Challengers & Tasks
The purpose of this section is to look at how you can introduce yourself not naturally to a horse while on his back, how you can influence his movement naturally and how you can guide him by being in the right place at the right time. Here are the first steps of learning to become part of the horse.
We also cover some safety issues to do with “pre-flight checks”, saddle savvy, and what to do when things go wrong, like your horse spooks. Things you need to be aware of to make sure your riding sessions are safe and that you do the right thing at the right time to make it easy for the horse to do the right thing.
Bruce Lee Said that in learning to master yourself, you don’t need to train your muscles, you need to train your mind. Your savvy has to become so ingrained that you automatically do the right thing to cause the right response in your horse. Some of the exercises in here we will ask you to repeat over a series of sessions so they become habits.
To ride like a natural you’ll have to let go of all the things we are traditionally taught… heels down, hands down… the stiffness of educated riding will be replace by ease, grace and feel, by a connection and flowingness with the horse. This is about turning loose so the horse can teach you to get in harmony with him. Then its about an education program that will teach both horse and human responsibilities in the partnership.
“The horse will teach you to ride…if only you will allow him” Pat Parelli
