“Yeah, but you don’t know My horse…”
Does the Savvy System Work for any horse?
Yes, it ‘s about the horse’s nature, his psychology, his language – elements common to all horses, Even thought here are a number of different breeds, they are still the same species who the same brain. Some horses are more impulsive or high spirited, other are slower and more inclined to stop.
Some are really thin-skinned, sensitive and defensive whilst other are more tolerant. Throughout the Savvy System you’ll learn how to adapt to each horse no matter its age or breed.
What about Problem horses?
Everyone thinks they have a unique problem but this is very rare. There are only so many things a horse can do to outwit, frighten dominate or frustrate a human! Their reasons are also pretty consistent: lack of respect, fear, defensiveness, pre-programming, human error, boredom or lack of enthusiasm.
Once we know what’s causing the problem it is easy to solve. No gadget or mechanical technique is going to solve the root cause of the problem; they are just gimmicks. Horses need the same thing that children do: better relationships. They need love, language and leadership and we need to learn how to provide these for our horses in a meaningful way.
Is Parelli only for problem horses?
How would you like to have more play and enthusiasm in your horse? Can you easily get flying lead changes while riding or load him into a trailer while you sit in a chair? Can he kick a beach ball back to you? Does he follow you around without a halter and lead rope and without you having a food to entice him? Horses and Humans can get bored, get into a rut or peak out at a certain performance level. The Savvy System is fun for both horse and rider. It invites you into a whole new world do learning and understanding with your horse, a new level of communication and develops a vast array of new skills. Even better, it prevents problems developing!
Is age a factor?
Not really, I have students as young as two years old and many in their 70’s and one lady in her 90’s and everything in-between. With horses age doesn’t matter. With horses you are dealing with time and experience – some good some not so good. Your goal is to break old patterns and wake up the enthusiasm again. The oldest horse I’ve had in a class was 43!
How does this system help me reach my goals?
How does this system help me reach my competitive goals?
Imagine a horse who is tuned in, happy, gives his best and takes ‘responsibility’ for things like controlling his emotions, maintaining gait and direction, self-carriage, and looking where he is going. What about a horse who is responsive to the lightest aid, willing calm, brace and athletic? What would you pay for a horse like that?
This system is designed to develop the horse on three levels; mental, emotional, and physical. The results? greater resilience, greater performance under pressure and a reduced tendency to falter mentally, emotionally and physically. The three levels of this system prepared the horse for very advance manoeuvres. the foundation is put in place for spins & pirouettes, flying changes, slide stops, jumps, cutting, polo, dressage and more.
